My work looks to combine the childlike freedom of treasure hunting with the deep-seated complications of adulthood. Those moments lost on a beach or in a park are amongst the most freeing; to be present, to be here, to be living. I strive to take the discarded and make it meaningful again.
Recycled materials from the beach were used to capture the atmosphere of place. With the polaroid signifying memory, and thread suggestive of thought patterns, I wanted this piece to represent how quickly fond memories can become tarnished with heart break and deceit, leaving behind only an aching wound.
